nike air force 1 year of the dog ( tier zero version )

i just realised, these were the first pair of af-1's i ever bought
the tier zero versions of the nike af-1 year of the dog

it's also one of the rarest or most expensive pairs in my collection.
fcny have one pair of size 11's for sale at the moment...

if i remember correctly i think the year of the dog was about 5 years ago.
the details on this tier zero pair are incredible. though if the same designers
were to re-do them today i think they would have done something more
interesting with the midsole. for me, it's the only let down on the shoe.
i have a bit of a dislike of white midsoles anyway. oh, in fairness they have used red stitching
to match the red out, and used pale blue for the embossed 'air' and trim.
the swoosh is in a white pebbled leather with orange stitching.

the foxing is constructed from what i call dog skin
it's usually called pony hair. it's a nice touch anyway.

the eye stay is in a soft red leather, the laces are pale blue
the sock liner is in a buttersoft black leather.

the tongue is constructed from a black perforated leather
with an orange tag and chinese characters, which i guess represents the year of the dog.

the heel tabs also have chinese characters instead of nike branding
black stitching on soft orange leather. nice.

the insoles are in black leather with a white pattern painted on.

the dubre is pretty plain. once again i think these days the designers would have come up with something special for this feature.
perhaps with chinese characters engraved ?

the tip is in a red leather material with a printed pattern
and most impresive of all, the mid panel and the toe box is in an orange leather with a gold
oriental design laser etched into it featuring representations of a chinese dog.

these are fire !
bringing heat to the streets of n7...

( or at least bringing heat to the oak floor of whitfield towers before carefully putting
them back in their box )
