snapshots and observations

Friday 17 June 2011

the rest of saturday

after leaving the d.o.c.a.s.a. i took a stroll down hatton garden.

i saw a bloke standing outside one of the jewellers shops wearing a very tidy panerai.
we chatted about watches for a few minutes and i took this ( poor ) photo.
mine is the one the left... the gmt.

a little further along, i bumped into this character
cockney royalty !

a pearly king !
when i'm older i'd like to be a pearly king...
... or an astronaut.

bea's of bloomsbury had a little stall in hatton garden
with a sign that kept getting smudged by the rain.
i wasn't tempted though, i was still lemon caked up.

around the corner on maybe theobalds road i heard loud noises, shouting
and big pieces of tree falling to the ground with a thud...
what the what ?!

i looked up, hoping that i'd been magically taken into one of my all time
favourite films... 'predator'
yessss ! there's the predator.

i quickly set a couple of elaborate traps for him and smeared myself in mud...
er, ok... it's some lad working for the council trimming the trees.

top man though, he really was jumping from branch to branch like the predator,
plus he had a big old chainsaw hanging from his belt which must have been heavy.

further along the road i saw this poster in a chippy window.
love chips indeed.

next i made my way over to wild and wood and treated myself to a flat white
which was spot-on as ever.

some australian people were sitting at the next table to me, talking louder than
i felt was strictly necessary, but my day continued to be a good one and they left
after a couple of minutes.
to celebrate having the place to myself i sent a few
nuisance text messages and read some of the saturday magazines.
i like wild and wood and i'm going to try to visit there more often from now on.

did i tell you i had a shoot at yauatcha a few weeks ago ?
part of the shoot was to photograph their macaroons.
on saturday i walked past yauatcha's window display and couldn't resist taking another shot.

oh and there was a box of chocolates too
the blue triangular things are my favourites by the way... blueberry flavour.

after skulking around soho for a while i decided to walk home.
along maybe berners street i spotted this place.
unfortunately it wasn't a cafe with a cool name, it really was the london
headquarters of the international coffee organization.

i had to admire the symmetry of this bloke's begging style. it seemed like a good strategy.
when you walk out of the shop you kind of have to make eye contact with him.

around fitzrovia you also have to make eye contact with this beauty...
the post office tower...
salute !
